Program from April 16th Memorial Dedication, August 19, 2007
Front and back of the program for April 16th Memorial Dedication, August 19, 2007. The text on the program reads:
"In the hours following the April 16 tragedy, the student-driven volunteer organization Hokies United placed 32 Hokie Stones on the Drillfield. The semi-circle of stones became a place to gather, to mourn, and to reflect, and the poignant display inspired today's memorial. As a community, we dedicate 32 engraved Hokie Stones in honor and in memory of the members of our Hokie family who lost their lives. Hokie Stone has long symbolized the foundation of Virginia Tech. Now, it also symbolizes our relentless spirit, our courage to move forward, and our determination never to forget."

You Fit Here
Early on the morning of Monday, August 20 - the first day of Fall 2007 classes - a large banner reading "You Fit Here" is on display near the War Memorial Chapel. The drillfield, intermediate memorial, and Burruss Hall are visible in the background. Smaller text on the poster reads: "Create a puzzle piece that says who you are." Sponsored by Hillel at VT and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of New River Valley, the campaign also included flyers that explained: "Welcome you here, whoever you are, and all that you are. We believe this is a time and place for growth and transformation. Here we can talk to each other, learn from our differences and celebrate what we have in common. Shalom. Peace."
